Just a quick note from our trip to Ironman Austria... we got the ferry from Dover to Dunkirk on Sunday morning and following a long day of driving spent last night in a hotel on the Hockenheim Motor Racing Circuit. Although this may sound glamorous it was actually pretty naff and the only hotel room I've ever seen with no windows at all!! After a leisurely start we made our way to Munich today and will drive the final three hours to Klagenfurt tomorrow morning.
It's been nice to kick back a little since Switzerland and I've enjoyed not training and being able to sink the odd beer but I must say I am looking forward to riding one lap (56 miles) of the bike course with H tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully the weather will be nice and the sun will show its face for the first time on our trip so far.
Other than that there's not a lot to report as yet but with us due to arrive in Klagenfurt tomorrow the big race atmosphere should start to increase. The town is pretty much taken over by Ironman for the week with nervous athletes everywhere you look and once registration and the Ironman village open on Thursday people will have their race numbers etc. and it will all seem very real!!
I hope to post something on here most days but internet access can be a little sketchy,
hope to write more soon,
T.
