Triathlon intro....

Just thought I'd post a few things in relation to the triathlon session we had at the gym today...

The best way to improve your swimming (particularly open water) and cycling is to join a triathlon club who will hold group/coached sessions in both disciplines. H and I are members of Leeds & Bradford Triathlon Club (http://www.lbt.org.uk) who are a great bunch and hold open water swims in Otley on Saturday mornings.

We both also use a coach, who in my case is a guy called Jack Maitland (www.thetriathloncoach.com). Jack really helps me to keep in the straight and narrow when it comes to the specifics of triathlon training.

If you're looking for a good deal on bikes etc one of the best shops is J E James (http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk) who are based in Sheffield and Rotherham. You can also get pretty good service from Woodrups (http://www.woodrupcycles.com) who are conveniently located just round the corner from the gym. A lot of people I know also use Wiggle (http://www.wiggle.co.uk) who do pretty good online deals.

H's Ironman is on Sunday the 8th of July in Klagenfurt, Austria. The event website is http://www.ironmanaustria.at/en.htm but the best place to follow her progress on the day will www.ironman.com using her surname (Turton).

We'll look to do a wetsuit/transition session in the gym sometime in the week or two leading up to the London Tri so watch this space.

Finally, if motivation is a problem or you think you may not be up to the triathlon challenge then check out this amazing video from YouTube... these guys have a marathon PB nearly 20 minutes quicker than mine even though the father is pushing his son in a wheelchair!!!
