This is a FRA CS fell race (Category C, Short) being exactly one mile in length with a climb of 560 feet. It’s all uphill, initially on a tarmac road and then on a good track. It’s organised by Ilkley Harriers, has been going since 2002 and there’s no chance of taking a wrong turn. Only the top eleven runners broke 9 minutes and there was a wide range of abilities.

63 people completed the race with giant marrows awarded as prizes to the category winners. Thanks to new club member David Womersley for braving the midges to lend support. As this was my first measured mile run it’s my PB, but one I’d hope to beat in the future.
