Kay 'Mermaid' Fawcett reports:
After several weeks of hot sunshine yesterday was a somewhat grey day and numbers were a little down on the normal at run club last night.
Although it was dry as we set off I was very reluctant to run but after Nicky did her best to make me feel guilty I begrudgingly got ready.
It was great to welcome some new faces who had chosen a grey night to run with us for the first time.
After our normal pre run chat and catch up on the efforts of our team at Eccup we spilt in to just three groups and set off. Unusually I didn't have a clear route for group 2 in mind and we just set off towards Hyde Park catching up with group 3 on the way. But then the memory of the previous night fish and chip tea and a need to work off those extra calories lead me to chose a route taking in the glorious hill on burley road with a second hill up in to headingly not long after. As usual this was met with glee by members of group two and those from group one who had joined us. As we ran the heavens opened and the rain came down and then down some more.
But with lots of chat to keep us going we were soon back at The Edge, and caught up with the other groups some of whom had had a great run down on the canal! We were all sodden, someone said they couldn't have been wetter if they had jumped in the canal but we all had great big smiles on our faces and we were all thrilled that we had made the effort to run on such a grey day!
I couldn't resist getting a photo of some of us to share on our site just to prove we are not just fair weather runners at Hyde Park Harriers!
