Chris Jones reports:
This was the second in a series of five races that are held on the last Saturday of each month from May to September. All of them start and end at Salt Ayre Leisure Centre – familiar territory to those who have ever done the Trimpell 20.
It was a scorching evening, and a scorching field to match. Liz took one look at the opposition and dropped out, leaving Chris as the sole HPH representative. It was a wise decision as the slowest runner came in at around 28 minutes – well behind the rest of the field. Chris was struggling with a hamstring injury he picked up earlier in the day at Bradford parkrun, so jogged round in 25.00, but enjoyed the run none-the-less.
We were having a weekend on the wrong side of the Pennines, but if anyone ever fancies a PB in Red Rose County, then this is one to think about. It’s fast, flat and well-organised, and there are some seriously speedy Lancastrians to pull you along to a good time. ukresults.net a little tardy getting the results up, but a dozen runners or so under 17 minutes.
Souvenir glass and a most welcome can of Strongbow at the finish.
Seeing so many runners under 17 mins must have been amazing! Well done Chris on a double race day (and sensible decision Liz!).
