I just wanted to say how thrilled I was to be awarded VARR racer of the year, for those that don't know me when you read below you will realise this is probably for quantity and not quality!! and felt I should just post my racing year here for you...
My goal for 2008 was to take part in at least one race a month which I did and achieve a few Pbs along the way
Jan Brass Monkey 13.1 mile 2.26.00 Only managed to get round this with support from Nicky!
Feb Dewsbury 10 k 10k 01.00.11 Race PB
24 Feb Great North western ½ M 13.1 mile A very very very grey day! Due to the capsized ship we had to pound round the same bit of promenade 3 times!
30 March Wakefield 10k 01.01.47 Nothing much to say about this one! Though I am doing it again
20 April Rothwell 10k 01.01.17 One of my favourite races though I failed to match my 10k PB which i set here in 2007!
17 May Meanwood Valley Trail 7.5m 01.30.30 I recommend this to all you who like trial races. Personally I thought it was hell and came last!
22 June JT Run for all 10k 01.03.31 Found this a little boring
29 June Humber half 13.1 mile 02.25.00 Enjoyed this one
1 July Eccup 10 10mile 01.49.48 Again like this one. But was my 3rd race in 4 weeks and found it a little hard going
31 Aug Sandal 10k 01.04.00 Was really pleased with my time on this race as I’m not very good off road!
Sep Harewood House – Cancer research 10k 01.01.30 Wasn’t really in the mood for this but had to get a race in for sep, but thoroughly enjoyed it even the long hill at the end! This was a charity race so no official times
5 Oct Great North Run 13.1 mile 02.17.42 Got a PB! Has to be my best race of the Year
2 Nov Guy Fawkes 10 10 mile 01.48.52 Just noticed that despite the hills (which no one told me about ) was my PB at this distance for 2008
23 Nov Abbey Dash 10 k 59.38 A course PB and was a PB for this distance in 2008!
Dec Santa Dash TT 5k No idea what time! Ran this in memory of my dad who had just passed away. I’m sure he will have been watching and having a good chuckle! Brill!
26 Dec Chevin Chase 7.5mile 01.21.34 Spent the whole 7.5 mile questioning why I was doing this again and soon as I'd done though wow, I will be back next year!
Kay is now looking for a target for 2009...
