Russell Gardham reports:
I entered this with Zoe Dale to enable her to get a marathon in, which was flat. It soon transpired that the person suggesting to do this had clearly not done his homework as this was not for the feint hearted. It was just as hilly as Beachy Head, with rougher terrain. We had to map read, navigate and use compasses to be able to get around the very difficult terrain.
Rather than a run, it soon became apparent (when I say soon, soon took a while) at around mile 12.5 that we weren’t going to be able to run it as we were getting lost because we were trying too much on speed and not enough on our navigational skills
We then decided to try and enjoy it as a walk (its intended purpose), the clue is in the name LDWA. I would recommend these to you, but as walks and not runs.
I can only imagine that with poor conditions, this would be very difficult indeed.
Nevertheless, we completed the marathon and clocked up # 16 of my campaign and #2 of ZoĆ«’s.
Brilliant to have completed 2 marathons in one weekend Russ! Well done to our new second claimer Zoe, too.
