Chris Jones reports:
We went to Towyn in mid Wales for a camping weekend centred on this race. There’s a 5 mile and 10k race in the morning and a 14 mile race in the afternoon. What could be difficult about jogging alongside a steam railway on a summers day? How about the hills, the rain, the slippery surface and the bogs. It was a great reminder of the winter cross country runs - I just managed to retrieve one of my trail shoes from a bog before it disappeared.
14 mile race
1 Gareth Raven Sale Harriers 01:20:22
387 Chris Jones 02:03:08
799 runners completed this race and the first 180 beat the train.
5 mile race
1 Alexander Lanz 00:32:29
103 Liz Jones 01:23:05
Only the first 28 runners beat the train in this race.
It was a great experience, but much more difficult than anticipated.
This is definitely one on my list of races to do. Sounds like great fun although the rain doesn't!
