Chris Jones reports:
This race started in Wolverhampton and finished in Birmingham. It was slightly downhill flat following the towpath alongside the canals that connect the two cities. However, there are plenty of locks and bridges that cross intersections and these get more frequent in the second half of the run. There’s also a 360yard long tunnel at the four mile mark which is not for the claustrophobic. It really ought to be a quick course, but on a blazing hot morning I managed a personal worst. You set off in waves so I found myself completely alone for long sections and also being overtaken at random moments by runners who were a lot quicker than me.
1 Steve Brookes Tipton Harriers 1:15:19
187 Chris Jones Hyde Park Harriers 1:47:00
There were 998 finishers and I was 12th in my age group.
I had wondered where you two were on Saturday and now I know! Well done Chris, even though you say it was a pw.
