Bingley St Ives Trail – 15.6.10
Chris Jones reports:
Sloped off from club training to tackle this trail race which took place on a private estate near Harden. It was a traditional cross country run with mud, stiles, tree roots and overhanging branches. It was an annual mob run with Bingley Harriers versus Ilkley Harriers making up a total of 55 from a field of 92 runners.
It was scenic with a climb of 550 feet over the five mile run. Most of the run was through woodland breaking out onto the moors for the middle section and then returning downhill through the woods to the finish.
There was some controversy as a group of runners took the wrong (significantly shorter) route. After the event there was the opportunity for pie and peas al fresco and the event raised £500 for Riding for the Disabled. This was the third running of this race and I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoys trail races. Despite a relatively small field, there were several familiar faces from parkrun and local runs. Thanks to Dave Woodhead for the photo.

Looks like a lot of fun from the photo Chris. Well done!
