Sarah Willis is staying with her parents in Guernsey...
"...and entered myself in the Guernsey Island Amateur Athletic Club Boxing Day Cross country. It is a 4.75 mile course over cliff paths and common land. The race organiser assured me it was reasonably flat and there was a broad range of abilities in the field so I wouldn't be last. When I lined up at the start wearing my VARR vest it was sunny and quite warm. About two minutes into the race clouds came down, gale force whipped waves off the sea onto the path and it began sleeting. The whole race was spent running into a headwind and being doused by waves and sleet. It was without doubt the worst race in my limited running career and the only reason why I didn't stop was because I knew I would be even colder and wetter if I walked back to the car than if I ran back. I was enormously relieved to finish in 41:12. Never again. Or at least not until next time..."
Well done Sarah. It sounds like a tough one today!
