It has been suggested that as a club we reward those members who participate in races. This would be split into two areas so that everyone who participates would be able to gain points and there would be separate awards based on participation and achievements. The idea is that 7 key club races would be nominated throughout the year. These would be a mixture of different distances and surfaces: 5k, 10k, 10 mile, Half Marathon and Trail Race. Points would be given for entering the race and a further points system based on achievements in the race. There would also be points for supporters (essential to keeping going as we all know!). To qualify for the championship, 5 out of the 7 races should be entered. We now need suggestions of which races should be included. A definite is the Abbey Dash 10k in November and probably the Leeds Half Marathon (although it has been noted that this may be difficult for some members due to marathon commitments around this time).
So, some suggestions please then we can set up a voting system on the club forum to finalise which ones should be included.
I will start the ball rolling by nominating Guy Fawkes as the 10 mile option.
