This was a bank holiday and village gala type event – and very pleasant indeed. Pre and post race top quality tea, sandwiches and cakes were consumed in and around the community hall on a sun drenched afternoon.
A tricky race with old farm tracks and paths littered with piles of new uneven rock and boulder deposits to negotiate and it seemed quite dusty because of this unusual surface also.
I managed to sit in 12th up to 2km, down to a battle for 10th and 9th spot by 5k (did 19:28 by 5km) and by 8km had progressed to 5th after a tough battle. Couldn’t reel in 4th spot on the final km – too many cakes and tea before hand I guess!
Came home 1st vet and really pleased with effort. Jan provided great support as usual and we both enjoyed the day’s festivities – though Jan was envious not to be running too!
Great stuff and another prize to add to your collection this year - well done!
