The world's biggest half marathon happened today and several VARR members were lucky enough to be taking part.
Report from Vikki: "The weather was very cool first thing, but soon warmed up when the gun went. The atmosphere throughout the race is like nothing I have ever experienced before and the people on the route were brilliant. I was amazed at the number of children yelling "oggy oggy oggy" at the runners and cheering when they replied! Turning onto the seafront at the end was incredible with supporters packed all along the road cheering and shouting.
It is definitely the best organised race I have ever done and the marshalls were friendly and helpful. I have to say that the highlight for me was the Red Arrows at the end - I have never seen anything like it!
I would like to say a huge THANK YOU to Kay and her brother for being so calm and keeping me from panicking in the crowds.
I know that Kay was a bit disappointed because she was sick during the race (another running first!) and didn't get the time she had hoped for, but we know that the Garmin told the real story of how long it took her! (2:14)
Helen was running with her mum today. It was her mum's first race and she did brilliantly."
Well done everyone!
